In my E90, I went from hi-fi audio to BavSound - subs definitely made a difference, as to the speakers, I finally turned on audio only after installing BavSound - the In the 50% volume setting things are much closer. B&W still wins but not by much. Sadly 80% of my driving (especially during Covid) is with the family, so the volume is closer to 25% where I cannot hear any difference between the two systems. I had a '16 328d xDrive whose only disappointment was the standard speakers. Not what one should expect from a $50,000+ car. Spent around $3000 for all the Bavsound bits and pieces and installation to little effect. Waste of money. Fast forward a few years, got a '17 328d xDrive wagon with the H-K system. The Harman Kardon Soho Wireless has a lot going for it, but there are a few problems. At $249 (£229, AU$318), it's coming in at a premium price point for wireless headphones. copperman05. 2905 posts · Joined 2013. #2 · Oct 14, 2013. Ive never used the BMW speakers, but I decided that for the extra ££ over them the HK was probably worth it. I dont regret that one bit, the HK is awesome. Present: M235i, Melbourne Red. Past: M135i, Mineral Grey, 428hp 481lbft. The formidable, yet comparatively inexpensive Harman Kardon sound system offering no less than 13 drivers was only left unchanged. Thus, it was already clear before the test drive that not only the eyes would get their money’s worth with the elegant, sporty, yet discreet design. Get your ears ready for some really joyful moments. I wasn't able to hear it in a 5 before I bought my car but opted for the B&W because I had a Burmester system in my previous Mercedes and liked that a lot. The dealer promised a significant difference and I was swayed on that advice. Yes it's a nice system - especially if you listen to quality recordings, but I wouldn't consider it worth the cost. 1. It is not very expensive (compared to many other things on the option list) 2. I listen to radio/music all the time; the sound system considerable influences the mood in the cabin. 3. This is an MB after all and thus the mood of the cabin is all important. IMHO music is in the eye (or ear) of the beholder.
